BEWARE OF THE LATENESS OF THE HOUR.

TITLE – BEWARE OF THE LATENESS OF THE HOUR.

TEXT: Matthew24:36-44 “36. NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT THAT DAY OR HOUR, NOT EVEN THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN, NOR THE SON,BUT ONLY THE FATHER .

37. AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH, SO IT WILL BE AT THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN.

38. FOR IN THE DAYS BEFORE THE FLOOD, PEOPLE WERE EATING AND DRINKING, MARRYING AND GIVING TO MARRIAGE, UP TO THE DAY NOAH ENTERED THE ARK;

39. AND THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN UNTIL THE FLOOD CAME AND TOOK THEM AWAY. THAT IS HOW IT WILL BE AT THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN.

40. TWO MEN WILL BE IN THE FIELD; ONE WILL BE TAKEN AND THE OTHER LEFT.

41. TWO WOMEN WILL BE GRINDING WITH A HAND MILL; ONE WILL BE TAKEN AND THE OTHER LEFT.

42. THEREFORE KEEP WATCH, BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW ON WHAT DAY YOUR LORD WILL COME.

43.BUT UNDERSTAND THIS: IF THE OWNER OF THE HOUSE HAD KNOWN AT WHAT TIME OF NIGHT THE THIEF WAS COMING, HE WOULD HAVE KEPT WATCH AND WOULD NOT HAVE LEFT HIS HOUSE BE BROKEN INTO.

44. SO YOU ALSO MUST BE READY, BECAUSE THE SON OF MAN WILL COME AT AN HOUR WHEN YOU DO NOT EXPECT HIM.

As Christians and even non Christians alike, we all know that time is very important in what ever we do in life. So in Ecclesiastics 3:1-8 ,the writer says; “There is time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.

1. Reading from the proceeding verses ( ie Matthew 24:1-35), one could see how elaborate the Lord Jesus was on the end time signs.

2. The Lord has given every necessary indications for us to know the time we find ourselves today.

3. And for the Lord Jesus to tell us how serious the time we find ourselves in said “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son of Man, but only the Father.(vs.36)

4. But brethren in the Lord, What time are we? If really the signs spelt out in Matthew 24:4-25 are really happening truly, then we need to beware of how late the hour of His coming for His bride is.

5. As Christians and people of this time, I believe strongly that we all need to ask the same question asked in Isaiah 21:11 and take also the answer given in the verse12.

11. “An oracle concerning Dumah. Someone calls to me from Seir,

“Watchman, what is left of the night?

12. The watchman replies, “Morning is coming, but also the night. If you would ask then ask;

And come back yet again.

6. We must all know that time is running out for everybody and everything in this world of ours.

7. We are again told by the Lord that the hour will be like the thief (arm robber) coming to steal. They do that unexpectedly. Beware of the lateness of the hour!!!

8. Again for the Lord to let us know how serious the lateness of the hour is, likened our time to the time past.

a. To Genesis chapters 6-8 about Noah’s time and how late it was for the people when the flood started. God is warning us today, as He warned the people of old about the coming wrath. Brethren the coming wrath will be unequaled to non in history.

b. He also took us to Genesis 19:1-29 to remind us of what happened then.

-How even the very sons-in –law of Lot thought that he was joking (Genesis 19:14]-So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters. He said, “Hurry and get out of this place, because the LORD is about to destroy the city! But his sons –in-law thought he was joking.

-And how Lot’s wife was disobedient to the angels and looked back and she became a pillar of salt.(Genesis 19:26)

9. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, what lessons have we taken from what happened to

the people stated above? I believe like the people in Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah times,

when many did whatever they thought and saw were good in their own eyes, a lot of us today

too are thinking , saying and seeing that everything is “NORMAL” and therefore life must go

on . But let us remember that if GOD has not changed and remains the same and if He could

allow the people to suffer when they failed to recognized that the hour was late and

therefore they needed to change their life and surrender fully to God their creator, then He

could do same or even worse to us. Why? Because we have many written examples to

learn from. And this is confirmed by Apostle Peter in 2 Peter 2:4-7.

CONCLUSION

My dear one, have you really checked at the time in which we are? If not then read 2 Timothy 3:1-5 alongside Matthew .24. Do not wait until the eleventh hour (11th) hour.

Because it will be too late!! Accept and surrender fully to Christ today and avoid the terrible times after the hour has passed. “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth……”Eccl.12:1.
